The project site is located
approximately 7 miles East of the City of Celle on the northern edge of the Aller Lowlands (natural area region Weser-Aller lowlands) bordering with the area formed by moraines 10,000 years ago
(natural area region Southern Heathland) in the Atlantic region.
It is a large grassland
complex on a gravel foundation with a thin layer of peat bog on top. The peat bog hydrology used to beinfluenced by the water pressure coming
from the slopes of the moraine and the dynamics of the Aller lowlands.
The site is crossed by
several ditches and has temporary flooded Alder Woodlands, shrub, hedges and solitary trees.
The Tree frog is present with
a few individuals only.
By creating small ponds, we
will aim for a permanent establishment of this species on the site and the wider area.
